De Smet Community Women (DCW) is a non-profit, service-oriented group located in De Smet, South Dakota.  Our members work together to benefit the needs of our community through service and philanthropic endeavors.

 

Fund Raisers

 

Our organization's activities and contributions are supported by the following fund raisers:

 

• De Smet City-Wide Rummage Sale

• Ice Cream Social

• Membership Drive

• De Smet Craft & Gift Fair

• Cookie Walk - Holiday Cookie and Baked Goods Sale

 

We also raise funds by providing meals and snacks for special events and groups within De Smet.  These have included Cycle America and the Girl Scouts. For inquiries, please email desmetdcw@outlook.com.

 

Community Contributions

 

The funds raised by DCW, as well as the generousity of our members and supporters, help us contribute to a variety of local community projects and organizations.  These include:

 

• Providing assistance to members of the community to help cover medical and travel expenses

• Kingsbury County Food Pantry

• High School Senior Scholarships

• Brookings Domestic Abuse Shelter

• Sponsoring needy families at Christmas

 

Community Events

 

• Valentines for the residents of the Good Samaritan Home (created by students at LIW Elementary)

• Easter Egg Hunt

• Teachers' Breakfast

• Halloween Party and Costume Event

• Toys for Tykes toy drive

• Holiday "Home of the Week"
